Basic Broadcasting
Become a part of community radio by learning to be a DJ! This class teaches the basics of non-commercial radio broadcasting at Bellevue College's own radio station, KBCS 91.3 FM. Learn the tools of basic broadcasting -- how to properly use air room equipment, announce music smoothly, play CDs and records, as well as understand the FCC's regulations for public broadcasting. You'll be studying and practicing at a real community radio station -- KBCS broadcasts 24 hours a day with an eclectic music and public affairs format, including jazz, folk, global, Hip Hop, and more. Class includes 2 hours of class time and 2 hours of studio work each week. After successful completion of the course you may apply for a volunteer air shift at KBCS. Tuition includes lab fees.
