Beginning SQL Server
Use SQL Management Studio to perform a core set of job-related tasks.
Competencies:
Perform basic tasks using the Object Explorer window in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
Manage security permissions on databases
Create an explicit transaction that blocks out another explicit transaction with an exclusive lock
Manipulate the files of a database using the features of SQL Server
Manage the operation of SQL Server services using tools inside and outside of SQL Server
Create a SQL job that runs at a specific time(/li>
This course is designed for anyone who wants to quickly become a proficient user of SQL Server, especially the tools integrated into SQL Server services using tools inside and outside of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Perform a core set of job-related tasks with a focus on the tools of SSMS. Topics covered include automatically generating queries for most actions that can be accomplished using the tools in SSMS; setting up a remote connection; managing security permissions; monitoring transactions and transaction locking; creating and moving a database; controlling the operations of services in SQL Server; and creating, scheduling and monitoring jobs.
Created to support the development of practical skills, this course can help prepare students to participate in on-the-job training (OJT).
Prerequisite:
Basic Relational Database Essentials or familiarity with a database product or equivalent knowledge
