TELOS - Sociology Meets Literature: The Self

In America, people “find themselves” through a series of decisions about education, work, love - with the self a work in progress. Read and discuss an essay, story, or poem each week in order to consider some of the life events, dilemmas, and options which are part of the experience of becoming and being oneself. Suggested reading: The Best American Essays of 2012, edited by David Brooks. Other readings will be provided.
