TELOS - Slavery, Suffrage and Civil Rights  

The course will begin with the history of slavery, the Middle Passage, colonization and the oppression of women. It will focus on how a group of amazing leaders using non-violent direct action were able to change the world.? These leaders included William Wilberforce, Henry Thoreau, Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, Mahatma Gandhi, W.E.B. Du Bois, A. Philip Randolph, Howard Thurman, Martin Luther King, and others. We will talk about what non-violent direct action is, the importance of Gospel Music in the Civil Rights Movement and watch some inspiring videos.

Instructor. Victor Bremson has taught and facilitated numerous courses for the Pachamama Alliance and ForTheGrandChildren.? He previously taught this course at Bellevue College in Seattle.? Before retiring he was a corporate turnaround consultant.? After retiring he received a doctorate from Wisdom University in California.
