Introduction to Encaustic

Encaustic painting, also called painting with wax, is an ancient medium of beeswax, damar resin and pure pigment recognized for its visually resplendent surface and rich color. Each layer of paint is fused together with heat creating an enamel-like finish. In this workshop you gain a thorough set of skills to work with encaustic, as well as tips for setting up a safe studio space at home. Demonstration and work time will be balanced. Students are encouraged to find and express their own artistic voice through this supportive workshop environment.

No prior experience required. Tuition includes basic materials and tools; see website here for additional information and what to bring with you. Early registration is recommended.
