Encaustic and Color  

Getting the perfect color and depth can be challenging with encaustic. This class will give you a better understanding of how to work with color and open up your basic color palette to unlimited possibilities. Learn how to mix your colors, make and layer glazes, and understand the use of opacity and translucency in your work. See website here for additional information on what you need to bring. Prerequisite: Introduction to Encaustic

Encaustic and Color – Supply List

Required Supplies:

1. Sumi-e Kozo paper, 11 inches by 60 feet roll, Item # 266 240 001

2. Available at Daniel Smith Bellevue under name Deborah Kapoor - $15

3. Brushes of various widths for applying encaustic (we will also be dipping)

4. Paper Towels

5. Freezer Paper (used to cover work table surface for easy cleanup)

6. Scissors

7. Metal ruler (with cork backing, used to tear strips of Kozo paper)


1. Enkaustikos Hot Stix (Available at Daniel Smith Bellevue in various colors)

2. Inks

3. Small self-healing cutting mat and blade


Electric griddles, heat guns and torches, encaustic paint, encaustic medium, soy wax for cleanup
