TELOS - Quilts: American Civil War Era   NEW!

We will look at American history through the eyes of quilters from 1830-70, which includes the Antebellum, Civil War and Reconstruction years. Among topics reviewed are quilts of the North and South; Underground Railroad quilts; political quilts that raised funds for abolitionists, suffragettes, and temperance advocates; coffin, tile and privy quilts; and the impact of publications, the pioneer movement, railroads, and modern consumer commercial concepts from Isaac Singer & Co.
