Maya 3D Animation for Games and Movies
Maya is the award-winning industry standard software for 3D design and animation. Maya animation has been instrumental in the creation of a range of popular movies as well as most games played today on the next generation video game systems. This course will provide an introduction to 3D modeling and animation. The format of the class is lecture/lab. Lectures provide an introduction to theory, planning, and workflow as well as in-depth coverage of how tools in Maya work. As a student, you will gain significant hands-on experience with Maya animation tools and techniques. Upon successful completion of this class, you should possess an understanding of the general principles/theories of 3D animation; Maya's user interface; the ability to create models using primitives, curves and surfaces; the ability to create simple textures using Maya's Hypershade; skills to render still images and animations; and the capability to set up a simple lighting scheme. Prerequisite: Familiarity with computers and Windows. The Art of Maya Book with Personal Learning Edition (free for home use) is included.
