THE DIVAS OF JAZZ

Women throughout the music field have had to struggle with the barriers society and male attitudes have imposed. The Jazz field is no exception. Somehow women artists have been able to leave their mark despite these obstacles, maybe because their instrument has usually been a most personal one…the human voice. Women jazz vocalists were able to combine emotional expression with musicianship. Come explore this musical genre with Kelly Eisenhour, a jazz vocalist herself, as well as a songwriter and arranger. She will discuss the personal side of these Divas as well as share some of her own experiences as a jazz vocalist working in Las Vegas, New York, and many other musical opportunities.
