The United States is a unique nation and is currently the world’s only superpower. To understand our nation, you need to understand the big ideas and historical concepts that shaped it over the years and continue to shape it today. We will explore the "big ideas" like religious tolerance, equality, the balance between heterogeneous forces, manifest destiny, the myth of the ever-expanding frontier, and the struggle between the Keynesian economic theory and the Chicago school economic theory. This course will give you a better understanding of how these forces have intertwined to make America what it is today.
