Designed for those who wish to prepare for the Washington State Private Investigator licensing exams, this program covers the study of investigations and investigative technique; laws that govern the investigator local agencies and their legal responsibilities; methods of investigation; and specialty areas of investigative work. Private investigator training can lead to a new career or can be taken to enhance workplace skills in investigative techniques.
This 5 month non-credit certificate program meets 2 weekends a month for a total of 108 hours of instruction. All classes are taught by licensed Private Investigators or Law Enforcement professionals. Endorsed by the Pacific Northwest Association of Investigators. This class exceeds the requirements for pre-assignment training required by the Department of Licensing for a Private Investigator license. Fee: $799

Instructors
Frank Sebastian is the primary instructor and course coordinator for the Private Investigator program. He has over 35 years of investigative experience with his primary focus being medico- legal investigation of death and injury. Sebastian is the owner of a general service investigative agency, and a private autopsy and forensic pathology service. He is an agency principal, certified trainer, and an independent insurance adjuster.
Jim Tyrrell has been licensed as an agency principal, armed private investigator, and certified trainer since 1995. He generally works real estate and regulatory case litigation support, and provides workplace violence prevention/ suppression and executive/asset protection services.
Sig Menchel, MD, is a board certified forensic pathologist and former chief medical examiner. Dr. Menchel has 35 of years experience in the field of death investigation, forensic pathology, and crime lab administration. He currently is in private practice in the Northwest.
