Paralegal - Civil Litigation I  

This is the first course of a two-part litigation series. You will learn the fundamentals of civil and criminal litigation, initiation of lawsuits, courts and jurisdiction, discovery, calendars, docket checks and depositions.

Learning Objectives:

  • The student will be able to identify the names and structures of Federal and State Courts.
  • The student will be able to identify the basic rules of evidence.
  • The student will be able to identify the jurisdictions and venues that apply to the filing of a civil action.
  • The student will be able to draft a Complaint in order to initiate a civil action.

Note: Textbook, Introduction to Civil Litigation, current ed. Textbook is required and is available at KSU Center Bookstore.
