Beginning Chess

Chess, considered one of the most popular games in the world, is a wonderful sport and life-long activity that can be enjoyed by all. It has been played for almost 1500 years by noblemen and others interested in it. Many notable people in History had chess as their favorite game. Besides being a great game that is easy to learn and fun to play, did you know that playing chess is considered to be very beneficial to your mind! Chess is a wonderful way of exercising the brain. It is universally considered as one of the best games to keep your mind active and to maintain your mental sharpness and clarity (say no to mental fatigue and Alzheimer's!). Chess encourages you to explore new ideas, to be inventive and creative, and to use your imagination. And, of course, winning at chess improves your self-confidence and self-esteem and gives you a great sense of achievement when you outwit your opponent. Want to learn how to play chess? Here are some fairly easy "lessons."
