Project Management for Supervisors 6 PDUs
This is an elective course in the Project Management Certificate Program. Successful completion fulfills 6 Professional Development Units towards certificate completion or ongoing professional development.
This course provides agency executives and project sponsors the background they need to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of fostering successful project outcomes. Participants will discuss theoretical fundamentals as well as participate in hands-on activities. Learn how to establish and maintain the conditions that ensure on-time and on-budget project deliverables.
Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
Discuss the roles and responsibilities of the project sponsor.
Describe the common pitfalls that can derail projects.
Explain the triple constraints of scope, time and budget.
Demonstrate understanding of project organization and resource assignment.
Use established criteria to select qualified project managers.
Set expectations for periodic project status reporting.
Communicate expectations on scope and policy.
Establish the governance structure for project decision making.
Discuss the importance of risk analysis, mitigation and monitoring.
Describe lessons learned from the literature.
Audience: Employees responsible with the planning and management of any type of project. Successful completion of one of the Project Management Essentials course is strongly recommended prior taking this course.
