Windows Server 2008 Administration  

This 5-day course teaches you how to simplify routine administrative tasks while making your network more robust and secure with Windows Server 2008. This class is for you, if you are a server administrator or support the day-to-day operations and management of servers in your organization. Your instructors are real-world consultants who can teach you how to directly apply what you learn in our state-of-the-art labs. The course objectives map to MCITP Exam 70-646 and are comparable to MS – 6419 or 6430.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Manage the server operating system, file, print, and directory services
  • Discuss the concepts and terminology of Windows Server 2008 Active Directory
  • Explain the basic concepts of DNS and how it applies to Active Directory
  • Plan server roles
  • Maintain server security
  • Plan data storage and network load balancing
  • Configure Volume Shadow Copy Services and DFS (Distributed File Services)
  • Manage software deployment and versioning
  • Monitor IPv4/IPv6
  • Adjust server performance and capacity
  • Replicate Active Directory
  • Schedule server deployments
  • Design a rollback contingency plan
  • Perform server backups and system restorations
Intended Audience: All employees with a background in server and/or network administration, desktop support, or any other related field. Suggested prerequisites are A+ or Network +.
