Windows Server 2008 Active Directory  

In this 4-day course you will plan, implement, and manage a Windows Server 2008 Active Directory. This class is essential if you are, or intend to be, a server administrator responsible for this role in your organization. Understanding and utilizing the power of Active Directory can greatly simplify your day-to-day tasks as a network administrator. Your instructors are real-world consultants who can teach you how to directly apply what you learn in our state-of-the-art labs. The course objectives map to MCITP Exam 70-640 and are comparable to MS-6425.
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Configure and manage DNS server settings, DNS zones, DNS zone transfers and replication.
  • Plan, configure and manage the AD (Active Directory) Infrastructure, configure and manage AD domains and forests, AD trusts and sites, AD replication, global catalog and operations master roles.
  • Configure RODCs (Read-Only Domain Controllers) for branch office environments.
  • Understand and configure other AD server roles such as Active Directory Federation Services, a critical component for designing Web SSO (Single-Sign-On) technologies.
  • Create and maintain Active Directory objects; automate creation of user and computer accounts, create and apply GPOs (Group Policy Objects) using templates, configure software deployments using GPOs, configure GPO account and audit policies to simplify tasks and better secure your entire network.
  • Use the built-in tools to monitor and backup Active Directory
  • Configure and manage Active Directory Certificate Services; understanding the various CA hierarchies, configure and manage CA server settings, manage enrollments and certificate revocations
  • Understand how these concepts work within the state’s Active Directory root forest
Intended Audience: All employees with a 1-year background in server and/or network administration. Suggested prerequisites would be Network + and the Windows 2008 Server Administration course.
