Your Pet and Cancer   NEW!

Cancer is one of the scariest words in the human language it invokes dread and a feeling of powerlessness. A large part of this fear comes from the types and consequences of the therapy required to control or cure this progressive life threatening disease. What happens when a precious pet or animal gets this disease? Every day advances are made in cancer therapy, innovations that can and are being used to manage animal cancer. To deal with the complexity and overwhelming growth of cancer medicine, veterinary medicine in the 1980’s developed and created a board certification for veterinary oncology. As veterinary oncologists our mandate is tremendously different from human oncology: quality of life through managing cancer. Using our special directive, veterinary oncologists have and continue to learn important lessons about cancer therapy. These lessons and the fact dogs share 96% genetic similarity with humans have caused the human oncology world to reach out for a partnership with veterinary oncology. During this class we will cover how you can manage cancer in your pet and protect their quality of life and what are the lessons we learn from animals with cancer.
