Social Dance: Latin

Since the 1940s, Latin dancing has taken America by storm. From hot and spicy salsa, to slow and romantic rumba, people find the Latin dances fun and exciting for both social enjoyment and physical exercise. In class we utilize a comparative style of teaching called the "Inter-relational Step Method," which enables students to learn the skills needed for dancing (not just steps) in the most efficient way possible. Our goal is to help you get out on the floor dancing as soon as possible. Dance floor etiquette is taught and practiced in all classes and events. By the end of the quarter, students should be able to dance Salsa, Cha-Cha, Rumba, and Merengue with ease and style. This class includes a section on rhythm training and how to find the rhythm in the music. Class is specifically designed for the beginning dancer, but even more “experienced” dancers learn more about the basics and how to effectively dance with a partner and make it an enjoyable experience for both.

No prerequisite.

People under the age of 21 are allowed to attend all out of class activities with the exception of “nightclub dancing.” All students are required to change partners in classes. No partner required! $55 per person. All dance classes are taught in “American Style.” Students must preregister and pay fee prior to participating; no payment is accepted in class. All classes held at Spokane Falls Community College, Bldg. 13, Rm 104.

For registration information, call IEL, 279-6000.
