A Career Certificate in Medical Coding and Billing will show future employers that you are well-trained in registering patient information, performing insurance verification, posting on day sheets/charge tickets/patient accounts, coding and billing insurance claims, collecting payments and more.
PREREQUISITES/AUDIENCE
A basic understanding of Medical Terminology is a prerequisite for this program. Students should be proficient in keyboarding, have a basic understanding of a word-processing computer program (Microsoft Word recommended), and have a command of English grammar and punctuation. No healthcare work experience is required.
The target audience for this program is individuals interested in learning job skills for medical office opportunities, or changing job skills to become medical coders.
ONLINE COURSE REQUIRMENTS
Microsoft Windows Vista or XP, Microsoft Office 2007 (Home and Student Edition, Standard Edition, Small Business Edition, or Professional Edition are all acceptable), Internet access, e-mail, Macromedia Flash Player, Macromedia Shockwave Player, Apple Quicktime, and the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox Web browser. A Macintosh computer will not work for this course.
