VITA: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, sponsored in Yavapai County by Catholic Charities, United Way, and Yavapai College, is part of a federal initiative to ensure intended tax credits reach the underserved in our communities; this includes the low-moderate income population, the elderly, disabled, limited English proficient, non-urban and Native American taxpayers.
Volunteer Tax Preparers will complete an on-line self-paced course for certification at the intermediate or advanced level. This is supplemented by ‘classroom’ opportunities to ask questions and practice using the Tax Wise software.
The impact of a refund for individuals living at or below the poverty line can be life-changing. Your service ensures everyone eligible has access to that resource.
