REGIONAL STUDIES: Drought in Arizona    NEW!

Please join us as we welcome guest speaker Michael Crimmins, Associate Professor and Climate Science Extension Specialist at the University of Arizona.

One of the strongest El Niño events in the last 100 years is underway and impacting weather patterns across the globe. This presentation will review how this event evolved through 2015 and early 2016 including its impact on the weather and climate of Arizona.

Drought has improved in the short term, but longer-term drought conditions, years in the making, will continue to linger. Now the prospects of a La Niña event are on the horizon which would suggest drier than average conditions for the southwest U.S. next winter season. A review of temperature trends, seasonal forecasts, and longer term prospects for the Southwest will also be discussed.

Please join us for this interesting event, brought to you by Verde River Basin Partnership! This public presentation and meeting is free and no RSVP is required. We hope to see you there.
