Project Management
Writing Well: Defined Project Objectives
An objective specifies a desired end result to be achieved by a project. We know it needs to be S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-limited). How can the objective be written so that it is also a management tool? A well-developed Project Objective can help communicate the desired project result, act as a control tool, and help Senior Management determine the value of a project, and compare projects. Learn the fundamentals of writing an objective, including using the S.M.A.R.T. method as well as including project value and project rationale in the statement. We will be using examples provided by the instructor along with any real-world examples brought in by students.
