ELECTIVE - Online Learning in Training and Development (Web-based course)  

Corporations and academic institutions alike are rapidly adopting online learning to reduce costs, create more flexible training times, and increase the number of classes they can offer. However, an online learning environment differs greatly from face-to-face.

In this experiential class you’ll learn the key interactions that need to be constructed between participants, instructors, and the content in order to promote quality online learning and accomplish learning objectives. Interactions between participants and instructors include; setting course expectations, creating smooth course navigation, and providing access to online help. Student-to-content interactions include how to best present the course content, understanding learning objectives, selecting appropriate materials, designing learning activities, and constructing meaningful assessments. Student-to-student interactions, when appropriate, may include group projects, communities of practice, and group discussions.

This class is for persons designing online courses from scratch or transitioning existing courses to an online environment. The material applies to any online class, regardless of the learning management system your organization may be using. Throughout the class, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions of an experienced instructional designer.

(Conducted entirely online; internet access is required.)

Provides 7 hours of content.

This is an elective course in the Training and Development Certificate Program. A 10% discount is available to CSU alumni and ASTD members (register for discounted section).
