Caring for the Caregiver: A Train-the-Trainer program for Behavioral Health Providers    NEW!

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) there are more than 34 million unpaid caregivers in the U.S. Approximately 30% report having difficulty managing their own emotional and physical stress and half report worsened physical health due to caregiving. Caregiver burden is a public health crisis that can be mitigated by training behavioral health providers effective interventions to use with caregivers individually or in community settings.

This “train-the-trainer” program stems from a 12 hour pilot intervention conducted in the community by a psychologist and Catholic priest.

The seminar will demonstrate evidence-based and promising psychosocial and spiritual support techniques that can be used either as part of individual therapy or as a stand-alone community program. Included are methods to monitor stress, deep breathing, connecting with nature, loving kindness meditation, spiritual coping, spaced retrieval to reduce repetitive questions, communicating through music and behavioral activation for the care recipient and caregiver.
