What Educators and School Psychologists need to Understand about African American Children The knowledge, attitudes and conduct of children must be analyzed through their own cultural context. The potential for misinterpretation and misunderstanding can be increased by cultural dissimilarity, across a range of nuanced dimensions. This course offers insight into some of the distinct social, emotional and psychological dynamics which can impact the school experience and academic performance of African American children. This course has been approved by OSPA (Ohio School Psychologists Association) for 2 cultural competence CEUs.
