Students with Eating Disorders -Identifying, Triaging and Referring Students

Students with Eating Disorders -Identifying, Triaging and Referring Students Eating Disorders are serious mental illnesses that not only involve considerable psychological impairments and distress but are also associated with wide-ranging and serious medical complications. The mortality rate for people with eating disorders is the highest of all psychiatric illnesses; over 12 times higher than that for people who don't have this issue. Early identification and treatment is key. School Psychologists may be in a unique position to identify, assess and refer this vulnerable population. Dr. Lucene Wisniewski will use case studies and role plays to teach participants the evident and clandestine symptoms of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. The program will take place at the CSU West Center 26202 Detroit Road, Westlake Ohio 44145. The West Center is just off of Interstate 90 at the Columbia Rd. exit. This course has been approved by OSPA (Ohio School Psychologists Association) for 3 cultural competence CEUs.
