Geriatric Mental Health: What Clinicians Need to Know from the Boomers to the Centenarians   NEW!

Ten thousand people a day turn age 65 in the U.S. The number of Americans age 100 or older has risen 44% from 2000 to 2014. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) life expectancy for the total population is 78.8, with women living about five years longer than men. With these changes in our demographics, behavioral health providers have an increasingly greater likelihood of adding older adults to their case load regardless of the setting where they work, yet relatively few have received additional training in geriatric behavioral health. This seminar provides a basic overview of clinically relevant information and resources for clinicians who provide psychological services to the older adult population.
