The Universality of Grief: Loss in Every Culture and Environment   NEW!

Grief. It’s something that 100% of the population experiences, regardless of culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation or economic status. It is no respecter of persons. Yet as we study this universal experience, we know that there are distinguishing characteristics of people’s experience of grief, depending on multiple criteria, which will be discussed in this workshop. We will also learn what constitutes traumatic grief, complicated grief and being “stuck” in grief, and interventions to address each of those. If grief is a universal experience, can it be considered a mental health issue? We will discuss the pros and cons of how grief is addressed in the DSM.
