If you have found portraiture too intimidating a subject, this is a great class to break through your apprehensions. The goal of most artists is to become skillful in portraiture, whether the subject matter is human or animal. The principles are the same. The medium can be in oil, watercolor, pastel, pencil or charcoal.
You will spend time on gesture drawing to loosen up and train your eye to see significant personal characteristics of the subject. We will not be working from models in this class, but work from photos and each other. A basic knowledge of drawing and/or painting is helpful in achieving your goal.
