This course is designed for AVOTEC program attendees who wish to attain their CFOT and AFOT certifications in a single offering. The combined Course saves time and money, and in many respects is a very efficient means to fully immerse yourself into fiber optics. Successful attendees are awarded two levels of certification: Basic-CFOT and Advanced – AFOT.
Day one: Introduction and overview; the basics of fiber optics; optical fiber construction and transmission characteristics; fiber optic cable construction and applications; fiber optic connectors, adapters and termination techniques; ST-MM connector termination and testing
Day two: Installation test and inspection requirements; SC-MM connector cable plant termination and testing, optical time domain reflectometer operation; reflectance and optical return loss; Fan-out kit installation, termination, and testing; LC-MM connector termination and testing.
Day three: Fiber optic local area net work overview; precision cleaving optical fiber; fusion splicing and splice tray management; mechanical splicing; mechanical splice connector installation and testing; mechanical splicing; mechanical splice connector installation and testing; combined CFOT and AFOT exam.
