The Knowledge Drive

Focusing on contemporary issues, we will discuss the human quest for knowledge: as a basic human drive arising from our survival instinct rather than being based on altruistic factors; as a source of power that often exacerbates inequality unless given human direction; and as a tool to direct our own evolution. We will discuss how this drive leads to information that conveys survival value that can supplant dysfunctional mythological beliefs. Suggested text: The Knowledge Drive, Edward J. Bardon, MD, $13.95. Limit: 20 Edward J. Bardon, MD, emeritus professor of psychiatry Tuesdays, March 20–May 8, 12:30–2 p.m. Mount Zion Temple, 1300 Summit Ave, St. Paul
