Stop Breaking Down: A Blues Panorama, 1915 - 1965
Enjoy hearing the music and exploring the careers of major figures in American blues, from the 1910s to the 1960s. We’ll trace the roots and key phases in the development of the blues, from early Mississippi Delta guitarists, key small-band blues vocalists, urban boogie-woogie blues pianists, and into the Chicago electric blues scene. As we listen, watch, and discuss, we will also consider the influences of blues music on American jazz and popular music. Limit: 40
