Ambrose Bierce, The Devil’s Dictionary

In the early 1900s, journalist and writer Ambrose Bierce collected his epigrammatic swipes at American delusions, illusions, follies, and foibles in a book, The Devil’s Dictionary. A friend of Mark Twain’s and an influence on such writers as Stephen Crane and O’Henry, Bierce had a caustic, irreverent wit that gleams in these diabolic definitions. Participants will be emailed to choose their favorite definitions for us to discuss. SP-Limit: 20 Bonnie Nelson, retired humanities instructor 3 sessions: Mondays, March 19–April 2, 12:30–2 p.m. The Kenwood, 825 Summit Ave, Mpls
