Explore birding history, equipment, strategies, and how our observations can be used in a modern science setting. Images from the instructor’s photo galleries will provide an identification warm-up. We will also explore Ebird and its assets. The first two meetings will be indoors in a lecture, discussion format. The last six weeks we will meet at birding sites in and around the Metro area. Discussion will continue in the field. There will be an optional Friday bird banding observation at a local nature area and a possible week-end trip out of the Metro area. Fitness requirements may vary at each site; please communicate physical limitations to the instructor. The first two meetings at Lake Harriet United Methodist Church on March 19 and 26 will meet 10-11:30 a.m. The rest of the sessions will start at 8 a.m. at various birding locations TBA. Limit: 20
