Orizomegami, the Japanese Art of Folded and Dyed Paper    NEW!

You will learn to fold different types of absorbent papers and use watercolor and natural dyes to create colorful dyed paper. Experimentation is encouraged. Once the paper is dry and ironed, you’ll learn to use the paper to make book covers, notecards, origami, paper flowers, collage and noren. This is a progressive workshop and requires participants to be at the first two classes. We will fold the different kinds of paper in the first class, and do the dyeing in the second and fifth classes. There is a $15 materials fee payable by cash or check to the instructor at the first meeting. About the Instructor: Aiko Cuneo is the daughter of Ruth Asawa. After graduating in 1972 from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, she assisted Asawa on public commissions and worked as an artist in San Francisco public schools. She worked with The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco on Asawa's 2006 Retrospective and exhibition catalogue, Contours in the Air.
