Writers Workshop - Session I
The Writers' Workshop is a seminar-type class for people currently writing in any genre, who are interested in giving and receiving thoughtful criticism. Enrollment is limited so that twice in the 6-week session, each student can read from his or her work and hear the responses of class and instructor. Rewriting is not required but it is encouraged. Enrollment limit: 12. Prerequisite: One writing class at OLLI or elsewhere. About the Instructor: Barbara Rose Brooker has published fiction, poetry, and nonfiction with Morrow, Crossing and other presses. She is the author of The Viagra Diaries, a novel which has been optioned by HBO for a television series, written by "Sex & The City's" Darren Star. The new edition of The Viagra Diaries will be published in 2013 by Simon Schuster and will be translated into twelve languages. Audio Go Publishers will release The Viagra Diaries in 2012. Barbara has a master of arts in creative writing, and since 1996 has taught creative writing at SF State College of Extended Learning, OLLI and at private seminars. Her next two novels Love, Sometimes, a sequel to THE VIAGRA DIARIES, and Should I Sleep In His Dead Wife’s Bed will also be published by Simon Schuster. Currently she writes Boomer In The City for the SFJWeekly, and for the Huffington Post. She believes that everything is possible after sixty and that creativity is at its peak.
