Art of the Renaissance Venetian Republic   NEW!

This course introduces students to the distinctive works from the Venetian Republic of the 15th & 16th centuries. As the maritime crossroads between Italy and Byzantium, the wealthy Republic was diverse in its culture, people, art and architecture. We will survey artists as in the talented Bellini Family, the imaginative works of Giorgione, the narratives of Carpaccio, and the luminous works of Titian, Veronese, and Tintoretto.
