Judaism 101
Judaism differs from other religions. Edward Halper will explore some of its distinctive features. The first session will discuss the question of who is a Jew by considering the origin of Judaism as it is presented in the Torah (Old Testament), as well the other canonical works of Judaism. The second session will consider the question of what a Jew is obligated to do by considering some of the 613 commandments and their Rabbinic interpretations. The third session will consider whether there is a distinctive Jewish politics by considering Jewish communal observance.
