A Visit to the Beloved Land
Spend half a day walking on 250 acres of beautiful woods known as The Beloved Land to the Muscogee-Creek people. Located next to Tallassee Forest, this tract of protected land has diverse habitats, native wildflowers, rock outcrops, several creeks, steep slopes, and frontage along the Middle Oconee River. Learn about the ecology of the land and the Native people who made it their home and considered it sacred. The walk will be approximately 5 miles through steep terrain at times. Wear hiking boots, and bring water, lunch and a walking stick. The land is privately-owned and location details will be provided.
