Training for Combat in WW2
This class will feature an overview of the vast mobilization and training efforts before and during WWII, with emphasis on the infantry training program at Ft. Benning and other camps in Georgia. Also to be discussed: the importance of the development of the US Army War College and Command and General Staff College, the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP), technical training (armor, engineers, artillery, paratroopers, medical, logistics), and the much criticized "replacement" program.
