Millions of grazing mammals travel a vast migratory circuit in response to seasonal rainfall, even mating and giving birth to their young on the move. Large predators depend on the seasonal passage of these animals through their territories to survive. Although these spectacular migrations have occurred through the millennia, the animals involved are currently under threat for a variety of reasons.
