The Confederacy: A Legacy Revisited

In the minds of most Americans the Confederate States of America equals racial slavery, therefore, all things Southern from 1861 to 1865 are beneath contempt. In this course Professor Thomas plans to address these judgements and challenge some of them. Although, he concedes that most Confederates were not great, he contends that some Confederates were at least good. He hopes to encourage all participants to think anew about the legacy of the Confederate South.
