Real Estate Investment Trusts: A Terrific Alternative to Bonds
Dr. Bouldin will explain what a real estate investment trust (REIT) is and its advantages as an investment. It is easy to find REITs that pay 4% to 5% in dividends. Unlike bonds, which lose value when inflation and interest rates increase, REITs increase in value as their buildings become more valuable and their rents go up. Unlike utilities, which cannot increase their revenue without regulatory approval, REITSs can increase the rent as all prices increase. Also, the diversity of REITS allows investors to tailor the investment to their knowledge and values.
