God 2.0: Re-imagining the Divine

This class will explore alternative models for God proposed by contemporary theologians and consider what these proposals might mean to individuals. The traditional idea of a personal God “out there” – infinite in power and goodness – has lost ground in our times. For many, this image of God we learned growing up no longer “works” anymore. Yet few are content to embrace outright atheism. There is a widespread desire for new ways of conceiving the divine that can satisfy both mind and the heart.
