Global China: Assessing the Belt and Road Initiative
The Chinese government's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is an ambitious global development strategy that involves hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure investments and potentially could reshape international trade. Since its launch in 2013, more than 130 countries have signed deals or expressed interest in BRI projects. This class will evaluate BRI's progress and prospects and explore what China's massive effort means for a world order in flux, and especially the implications for U.S. foreign policy and international economic relations.
