Household digital assistants such as Alexa are the first AIs with which we are on speaking terms. In this two-part series, we consider how the rapidly evolving world of AI affects us, and what it might do in the future. Day I will consider technical issues: the development of AI and how it impacts the working world. Day II will get into philosophical issues: how AI is intruding into our society and politics, what happens when AI becomes smarter than people, and whether humans and AI will join to form a new species.
