Monumental Brass Rubbings from Medieval England

Sara Chadwick lived in England during 1968-70 and had the unique opportunity to make rubbings of medieval monumental brasses present in many churches which memorialized knights, clergy, merchants and their families. Churches closed to brass rubbers in the 70's, making them exceptionally valuable and treasures of history and culture. This class will cover the materials used to make rubbings, creative techniques and secrets to making an artistic picture, as well as display aspects of her own collection.
