East Asia: The Rise, Fall and Rise Again of China, Japan and Korea

This class examines the history and cultures of East Asia. Participants will learn about how the region became the epicenter of Asian civilizations, declined under Western colonization and rose again over the 20th and 21st centuries. The major precepts of Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Shinto will be spotlighted.
