Capital Punishment in the US

The United States is the only advanced Western democracy that does not view capital punishment as a human rights violation and an abuse of governmental power. Informed by empirical studies, this class will explore the way in which the U.S. capital punishment regime operates in fact, including its alarming error rate and its discrimination on the basis of socioeconomic status, race, and geography.
