Getting Started at OLLI

You read the brochure. You watched the video. You perused the most current copy of the catalog. You may have even spoken to our helpful staff. Now you are excited to become part of our lifelong learning community. Here are the next steps to take and a few future areas to explore: 

1. Review your membership options by re-visiting our Membership page.
2. Complete the membership form. This can be printed, filled out, and mailed back to the office. You can also scan (or take a picture of the completed form) and email it as an attachment. Pending on the device you are using, the form can be opened and completed on your computer. You'll just need to save it as a new document and then send it as an email attachment back to us.
3. Payment. At this time, OLLI is not able to take online payments through this site. You can pay your membership fees via check (send it back with your membership form) or via credit card. If you rather not put the credit card number on the form, just write a note for the office to call you and we can take payment over the phone. For safety and security, please do not send credit card information over the internet either in an email to OLLI or as an attachment.
4. Read the welcome email! After the OLLI staff process your membership form, you will get a welcome message from the office. Please read it carefully as it has some great information to make sure you get started off on the right foot at OLLI. This includes information on how to use your OLLI account on this site. An OLLI account is only created once a membership form and payment has been submitted and process.

1. OLLI Connections, our weekly e-newsletter, is delivered to your inbox each Wednesday evening (it is also available on the UMass website here). Definitely read it every week to find out the latest information about what’s happening at OLLI, including new theater performances, special events, new classes, and more. We automatically add your name when you become a member, though non-members can subscribe to the newsletter as well. While you may unsubscribe at any time, we hope you do not as you'll miss out on a lot important reminders and details about OLLI and its programs. We do not share or sell our email lists.
2. Follow us on Facebook. If you have your own social media, please feel free to share our posts to help spread the word about OLLI!
3. Email is the primary way in with the office and our presenters communicate with OLLI members. Please make sure to always check your email's junk/spam folders.

2. Requesting fall and spring courses. OLLI at UMass Boston assigns courses through a lotter (allocation) system based on how members prioritize their course requests. OLLI members have at least a month to submit their course requests before each semester's priority deadline. After final course confirmations are sent, classes with space still available are opened up on a first-come, first-served registration basis.
3. Explore volunteer opportunities. OLLI depends on volunteers to serve on committees that make OLLI as vibrant as it is, to organize or lead Shared Interest Groups, and to provide help at events or on short term projects. This is a great way to get connected and to make new friends.
4. Donate. OLLI welcomes donations to help us enhance the membership experience and further our mission.

Get your UMass Student ID (OPTIONAL)** to identify you as an OLLI member and to tap into other benefits (see Member FAQs for a partial list). The UMass Student ID is not required if you plan to be on campus to take courses. Many members enjoy the discounts at local business that can come with a student ID card.. There is a one-time $25 fee for the UMass Student ID. Stop by the OLLI Office to pick up an authorization form and proceed to the Quinn Building to get your picture ID.
2. Request a UMass Email Address (OPTIONAL)** for access to student discounts from online vendors (see Member FAQs for a partial list of other benefits). Call the OLLI Office to get the process started.
3. Purchase UMass Parking Vouchers. Full members may purchase a $45 semester parking plan; any member may purchase $9
